Ralph Sutton & Kenny Davern - Live at the Thunderbird Lodge

If you're looking for great jazz music, look no farther than this dynamic quartet headed by Ralph Sutton and Kenny Davern.  You can enjoy swing music in many settings, but the intimate venue of The Twining Tavern at the Thunderbird Lodge at Taos Ski Resort is one of the most perfect.  If you close your eyes and imagine the scenic beauty, you'll enjoy a magical music experience.  As always, the Victoria Records recordings are top notch.

Artist of the Month

Dick Hyman  - Throughout a busy musical career that got underway in the early '50s, Dick Hyman has functioned as pianist, organist, arranger, music director, and, increasingly, as composer. His versatility in all of these areas has resulted in well over 100 albums recorded under his own name and many more in support of other artists. While developing a masterful facility for improvisation in his own piano style, Mr. Hyman has also investigated ragtime and the earliest periods of jazz and has researched and recorded the piano music of Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, James P. Johnson, Zez Confrey, Eubie Blake and Fats Waller which he often features in his frequent recitals.  more...

Feature of the Month

In the Afterglow -Travel back to the days when Olive & Boyle was a state of mind and Gaslight Square was the hippest place to be in America.  The tornado that swept through in 1959 destroyed much of the district but in its wake rose a spirit that hasn’t been matched anywhere since.  Gaslight Square became the center of culture for many St. Lousians and musicians.  Some of these local favorites became national stars on the world stage because of the spotlight that Gaslight Square emitted.

We have teamed up with several independent labels to begin offering MP3 downloads to our customers. In the next few months we will be releasing several out-of-print rare Stomp Off Records releases as MP3 downloads for a terrific price of $.99 per song or $9.95 per complete album. These will feature the near-CD quality 192 kbps MP3 files that will allow listeners to hear again some marvelous music that has become unavailale for many years.
