After nearly four decades of jazz making, Herb Drury and Jerry Cherry represent the best in St. Louis swing jazz. Herb and Jerry are a St. Louis jazz institution, the essence of improvisational music. They''ve been the source of some of the city''s warmest, richest, most compelling jazz for all these years. That''s why you''ll find them playing to appreciative audiences in the most prestigious rooms. They began at Sorrento''s on Debalivere with drummers Phil Hulsey and Art Heagle, and have since made long-running appearances at many other notable spots - like Schneithorst''s with Jeanne Treavor, LaChateau with the late Jim Bolen, At the Daniele Hotel and, today, at the Ritz-Carlton. Herb and Jerry''s special synergy "jumps beyond the footlights" to reach and touch their audiences wherever they perform. Rather than simply sharing another gig, these two friends create a kind of inspired music which can only come from artists who read each other''s minds, anticipate each other''s ideas, and improvise on the spot as a precisely synchronized team.
