This CD was inspired by the records legendary New Orleans trumpeter Bunk Johnson made in San Francisco in 1944 with members of the Yerba Buenna Jazz Band. Chris Tyle does an excellent job of capturing Bunk's lyrical style. The tunes are ones Bunk liked (according to his friend, jazz historian Bill Russell). The Silver Leaf Jazz Band captures the Yerba Buenna style to perfection.
